Thank you all for participating in our closing conference “Libraries, Democracy and Digitalisation: Dialogues about Civic Engagement” on December 7th at IT University in Copenhagen. It was a great experience to present the project’s results and to facilitate inspiring discussion about citizen engagement in public libraries. Special thanks to our invited guests, who took part in the discussion panel (in the order on the picture below) :
- Sidsel Bech-Petersen – Head of innovation and user involvement , Aarhus Public Libraries / Dokk1, Denmark
- Michala Høg Daimar – Secretariat director in Digitaliseringsstyrelsen
- Åsa Sandström – Manager of Malmö City Libraries, Sweden
- Lone Malmborg – Head of Digital Design department, ITU (Panel moderator)
- Jörn Christiansson – CAPE Project Manager, ITU Denmark
The panel discussion brought together different perspectives on public digitalization in the Nordic countries, focusing on similarities but also on differences among them. An important part of the discussion was about the role of libraries in bridging the digital divide, providing IT support for different groups of citizens.
An important voice in the discussion also came from the IT volunteers and Jakob Bach Jeppesen Nyborg at the Ballerup Library in Denmark who shared their experiences in providing digital support to the elderly. Their perspective highlighted the crucial role libraries play in bridging the digital divide and ensuring inclusivity in the era of technological advancement.
Grateful for the exchange of ideas and the enriching insights shared by all panelists. Soon we will publish videos from all the presentations, in the meantime few pictures from the event in the post gallery.
Thank you all for participating.
